The Waitaki Whitestone Geopark Trust is a charitable organisation which tells the story of our land, our whenua. It inspires our people and visitors to learn, discover and be connected to our living planet and cultural histories, so together we can care for and contribute to thriving communities. We aim to develop a generation of people who care for the planet and its people by understanding, appreciating and protecting our land, our sky and our ocean.
The Waitaki Whitestone Geopark organises a range of community events throughout the year such as Beach Clean Ups, Geosite Field Trips, Guided Tours etc. Have a look on our Event list to see what we have done in the past. We need volunteers to help with the promotion of these events as well as support on the day.
Event promotion (flexible - based on your availability)
(Optional) Graphic design of promotional material
Distributing promotional material
Event operation (usually evenings/weekends)
Help to set up and tidy up afterwards
Support during the event
You will have the opportunity to help locals and visitors gain an understanding and appreciation of our unique natural history of our region, as well as support the preservation of beautiful geosites. Volunteers are an important part of the positive impact that our organisation has on the local environment. Be a part of the team and help either before the event or during, or both- based on your availability.
Requirements:
Great communication skills
Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
Ability to use your initiative
An interest in and passion for promoting the Waitaki Whitestone Geopark positively in the community
Time commitment:
Ideally a volunteer would be available for 1-2 hours/month
Promotion tasks can be done prior to the event - flexible timings
Events usually take place on evenings or weekends
